Bug Reports/Common Fixes

1). General Notes:

As we are still in early access, we will be continually adjusting performance as we go. Especially as new mechanics/systems are implemented.

  • We recommend installing the game on an SSD/NVME
  • Non-SSD’s/NVME’s will affect performance/loading times.
  • Having higher end RAM more than 3200 MHZ will benefit you greatly I personally have 6000 MHZ RAM
Using a lower end PC/Consider Upgrading Tips:
  • The Auto configure graphics tool added to the video options is a starting point. You’ll want to tweak as needed but if you have a high-end video card it won’t matter to a certain point as our game is CPU bound.
  •  Being CPU bound means that that performance and stabile FPS is more reliant on having a good CPU. If you want to get the most out of Cepheus, I recommend a 10Th generation or higher CPU/AMD equivalent.
General Crashes/Performance Tweaks:
  • In a lot of cases having a Medium-High end machine is rendered mute by poor maintenance. Your computer is just like a car, it requires regular maintaince to ensure optimal performance.

Special Note: Unreal Engine can become unstable if you use multiple video cards (Laptop/SLI) to be clear this isn’t a design decision on our part but out of our hands completely and comes down to the Engine and what it supports. We cannot fix issues relating to this unless recommending you disable one of them when you launch the game or just force the Nvidia control panel to run one only over using both.

Tips on MAINTENANCE:

In some cases, we have found engine crashes and bad performance could be because of a bad windows update/system integrity that is damaged.

SFC Tool:

Will check your windows install for minor violations fixes basic issues but I recommend the bottom DISM command if it finds anything
sfc /scannow

DISM Tool:

Checks windows servers to ensure your Windows copy is healthy. Used in combination with SFC typically.
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Chkdsk Tool:

If you have ever encountered a BOSD (Blue screen of death) or sudden power lost that turned off your machine (Breaker/Power outage etc) You should run this tool to repair your hard drive files. In certain cases, this can solve crashes from a software level to even stopping certain BOSD’s.

Now that I’ve reviewed the tools, I would recommend you run them in this Order of Operations.
1. Chdsk all HD’s
2. SFC
3. DISM
4. BIOS’s updates
5. Chipset/Audio Drivers
6. Display Driver Update

2.) General Common Fixes/Issues

#1. Slow Load Times (We recommend a SSD at least)

The game loads slowly. Most people dont realize its not only the RAM,CPU and Video card that affect game performance but also your HD. Having a fast hardware can go a long way to improve performance. Heres a video showing off the different harddrives and what kinda of performance you might expect from them

#2. Game seems funky/UI not loading properly other weird gameplay events

Verify your steam install. Sometimes a HD or other component on a machine can malfunction heck even a very hardcore anti virus can damage/affect downloads. Its recommended you at least verify the game install via the method shown below.

Hello Civilian! Welcome to Treasure Island. Before you continue to the Support and Feedback channels below, please ensure you’re providing the following information so that we can solve your problem as quickly as possible and get you back to hunting down Patient Zero:

Please be aware that the Experimental Branch is our testing ground where we try new fixes and new mechanics so you might run into some bugs in there.

We do not recommend playing your full games on there because you might lose progress but you can definitely go in there to see what we’re working on. Bugs and other things might break but please do let us know if you run into a crashes/bugs and report that to us.

3.) Crashes

If you can get us a full copy/paste of the call stack (See Example below) over the dump file this is highly more desirable. We want the entire circled blue section in its entirely either copy pasted into a forums post/discord bug-report channel. You can also put it inside a .txt file if your fancy and upload that

4.) Bugs/in-game issues

Please provide as much information as you can and include a screenshot if possible. Tell us where it happened, what you were doing before it happened, and any other information that would help us reproduce the issue.

How to use OBS Tutorial for recording gameplay/bug reporting. Use this tool to easy show us whats going on in your game session. especially if the bug is super complicated and we can’t seem to be able to recreate it

SAVE FILE LOCATION (IF ASKED)

In some instances we might request your save file if the bug is that hard to pin down. You can find save files here
